NOLIMIT Finance is not a bank and does not take deposits. Accounts and payment processing are provided through the regulated companies of the Breinrock group, which are payment institutions rather than credit institutions. Their regulatory status is set out on our regulatory status page.
Client funds are held in escrow accounts, separately from the operating assets of the company that administers them, at large international banks.
Because the funds are segregated rather than held on the balance sheet of the payment institution, they do not form part of its estate if it should fail. That is the protection segregation gives, and it is the one that matters most in practice.
Segregation is not deposit insurance. Statutory deposit guarantee schemes — the FSCS in the United Kingdom, CDIC in Canada, the deposit guarantee scheme in the Czech Republic — protect deposits held at banks that belong to them, up to a limit per eligible beneficiary, and they do not apply to funds held by a payment institution. Where a scheme does reach the beneficiaries of a client account, it does so up to that limit and no further. Some jurisdictions in which accounts may be held operate no deposit guarantee scheme at all.
Whether a scheme applies to your account, and to what extent, therefore depends on the institution holding it and on how the account is structured.
